Emergency Dentist in Burbank That Accepts PPO Insurance

Need an emergency dentist in Burbank who takes PPO insurance? We accept Delta Dental, Aetna, Cigna, MetLife and other PPO plans. What's usually covered.

Person with severe tooth pain needing an emergency dentist

If you're in pain and have PPO dental insurance, you can be seen at Magnolia Dentistry in Burbank. We accept PPO plans from Delta Dental, Aetna, Cigna, MetLife, Guardian, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California and most other PPO insurers. Call (818) 846-9041 first: we fit dental emergencies in the same day whenever possible, and Dr. Massaband is on call from 6 AM to 12 AM every day.

You don't need to sort out your insurance before you call. Tell us what's happening, and we'll check your PPO plan while we get you in.

In pain right now? Call (818) 846-9041. If swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

What counts as a dental emergency

Call us the same day for severe or throbbing tooth pain, facial or gum swelling, a knocked-out or loose adult tooth, a cracked or broken tooth, a lost filling or crown that's causing pain, or bleeding that won't stop after an extraction. Our emergency dentist page explains what to do on the way, including how to handle a knocked-out tooth.

What PPO plans usually cover in an emergency

Every plan is different, but most PPO dental plans handle an emergency visit in two parts.

The visit and diagnosis. A problem-focused (limited) exam and the X-rays needed to find the cause are usually covered under diagnostic and preventive benefits, often at the highest coverage level and sometimes without a deductible. Some plans limit how many exams they cover per year, so an emergency exam can count toward that limit.

The treatment. What happens next depends on the cause. Fillings, simple extractions and palliative treatment to relieve pain are usually basic services. Root canals are basic or major depending on the plan, and crowns are major. Your deductible, coinsurance and annual maximum apply.

If the full treatment is extensive, we focus on getting you out of pain first, then explain the rest of the plan and your estimated cost before going further. For large treatment, we can request a predetermination from your insurer.

Using your PPO with an out-of-network dentist in an emergency

PPO plans generally pay a benefit whether or not your dentist is in your network, though your share is usually lower in network. In an emergency, getting seen quickly matters most. We'll check how your specific plan applies at our office and tell you what to expect. Our guide to in-network vs. out-of-network PPO dentists explains how costs differ.

PPO plans we accept

We accept PPO dental plans from most major insurers. These guides explain each one:

We don't accept dental HMO (DHMO) plans or government-funded programs such as Medi-Cal Dental. For costs your plan doesn't cover, CareCredit and Cherry financing is available, subject to credit approval.

Where we are

Questions patients often ask

Do I need to know my insurance details before I call?

No. Call us first. Have your insurance card handy if you can, and we'll check your plan while we arrange your visit.

Will my PPO cover an emergency visit on a weekend?

Coverage is based on the services you receive, not the day of the week, but check your plan for any rules about after-hours fees. Call us and we'll explain what to expect.

What if I've already reached my annual maximum?

We'll still see you. We'll explain the cost before treatment, and options such as financing can help. Our guide on [what to do when dental insurance is maxed out](/what-to-do-if-dental-insurance-is-maxed-out/) covers more.
