Burbank Dentist That Accepts Cigna Dental PPO

Magnolia Dentistry accepts Cigna Dental PPO plans. You can use your Cigna PPO benefits at our Burbank office for exams and cleanings, emergency visits, fillings, crowns, implant consultations and more. We'll check your specific Cigna plan before treatment and explain what it's likely to cover.

Cigna offers two very different kinds of dental plans, and only one of them works at most private practices, so the first step is knowing which one you have.

Cigna Dental PPO vs. Cigna Dental Care DHMO

Cigna Dental PPO plans let you choose your dentist and include out-of-network benefits. Cigna Dental Care DHMO plans require you to use a network general dentist and generally don't pay for out-of-network care. Magnolia Dentistry accepts PPO plans only, so if your card or benefits summary says DHMO or Dental Care, it won't apply at our office. We also don't accept government-funded programs such as Medi-Cal Dental.

How Cigna's PPO network tiers work

Some Cigna PPO plans use more than one in-network tier. One employer's plan, for example, describes Cigna DPPO Advantage as the tier with the best benefit level and a broader Cigna DPPO tier that pays at a lower level (City of Scottsdale). Cigna's own materials say members save the most with Advantage network dentists, who accept a predetermined contracted fee (Cigna). Other plans list a single network, sometimes called Radius.

When you see a dentist outside your plan's network, Cigna still pays a benefit on most PPO plans, but the dentist can bill you the difference between their fee and the amount Cigna allows. Because network status depends on your specific plan and tier, we check how your Cigna plan applies at our office before your visit.

Checking your benefits in myCigna

The myCigna website and app let you view your ID card, check coverage, see how much of your annual maximum you've used and search for dentists. For bigger treatment, the most useful number is your remaining annual maximum, since it often limits what Cigna can pay for crowns, bridges and implants in a single year.

What Cigna PPO plans commonly cover

Preventive care such as exams, cleanings and routine X-rays is usually covered at the highest level, often without a deductible.

Basic care such as fillings, simple extractions and, on many plans, root canals is covered at a middle level after the deductible.

Major care such as crowns, bridges, dentures and, on plans that include them, implants is usually covered at a lower percentage and limited by the annual maximum. Cosmetic treatment like veneers and whitening is generally excluded.

These are typical patterns, not guarantees. Your plan's summary of benefits is the authority, and a predetermination gives you Cigna's estimate in writing.
