Comparing fixed teeth vs. removable

Fixed teeth are securely attached to the implants and aren't removable, so you can enjoy your favorite foods without worrying about your teeth slipping.

Option 1

All-on-4®

All-on-4® offers a complete set of teeth supported by just four implants. Two are placed vertically at the front of the jaw and two are angled at the back to make the most of available bone — often avoiding bone grafts — and a full arch of teeth is attached.

Option 2

Teeth-in-a-day

Teeth-in-a-day is another implant solution that offers quick results. Implants are placed and a temporary set of teeth is attached on the same day as surgery. Once the implants have fully integrated with the jawbone, the temporaries are replaced with a permanent set.

Option 3

Acrylic overdenture — removable and fixed

Acrylic overdentures attach to implants via a bar or ball attachment. This allows easy removal and cleaning while providing a stable foundation — no adhesives, far less movement and better chewing than a conventional denture.

Overdentures can also be designed to be fixed to the implants, so they're not removable by the patient. Your choice depends on your bone, bite, cleaning preferences and budget.

Benefits of implant-supported dentures

Implant-supported dentures are a hybrid of traditional dentures and dental implants. Attaching the denture to implants via a bar or ball attachment provides dramatically more stability and function.

What's the difference between All-on-4 and teeth-in-a-day?

All-on-4® describes the implant layout (four implants supporting a full arch). Teeth-in-a-day describes the timing (temporary teeth attached on surgery day). Many All-on-4 cases are also teeth-in-a-day.

Is a fixed or removable option better?

Fixed teeth feel most like natural teeth and don't come out. Removable overdentures are easier to clean thoroughly and usually cost less. We'll help you weigh comfort, cleaning and budget.

Can my current denture be used with implants?

Sometimes. A well-fitting denture may be retrofitted with attachments to snap onto new implants. We'll evaluate it at your consultation.

How do I know which option I need?

A 3D scan and exam show your bone volume, bite and gum health — the factors that decide which option is predictable for you.
