Reveal the Smile You’ve Always Wanted
Dr. Liyan Massaband, DMD, MPH, is a cosmetic dentist in Burbank, CA, with 15+ years of experience designing and placing dental veneers, from a single tooth correction to complete smile transformations. At Magnolia Dentistry, every veneer is custom-crafted to match your facial features, skin tone, and smile goals for a result that looks completely natural.
We offer both porcelain veneers (the gold standard in aesthetics and durability) and composite veneers (a more affordable, single-appointment option). Every veneer consultation includes a free digital smile preview so you can see your result before any treatment begins.
Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells custom-crafted to bond to the front surface of your teeth, instantly transforming their colour, shape, size, and proportion. They are the most versatile cosmetic dental treatment available, able to address multiple aesthetic concerns simultaneously in just 2–3 appointments.
Porcelain Veneers: The Gold Standard
A master ceramist from high-grade dental ceramic fabricates porcelain veneers. Porcelain uniquely mimics the light-reflecting quality and translucency of natural tooth enamel; an observer can’t tell the difference between a well-made porcelain veneer and a natural tooth. The shade is custom-selected to your desired level of whiteness and cannot stain.
Porcelain veneers require two to three appointments: a preparation appointment where a small amount of enamel is removed and impressions are taken, and a temporary veneer stage. At the same time, the ceramist fabricates your permanent veneers, and a fitting appointment where Dr. Massaband bonds and adjusts the final veneers. With proper care, porcelain veneers last 10–20 years.
Composite Veneers; Affordable & Same-Day
Composite veneers are applied directly to the tooth surface in a single appointment using tooth-coloured composite resin. No laboratory or temporary stage is needed. They are a more affordable entry point and can be completed in one visit, making them ideal for patients who want an immediate improvement or who are not yet ready to commit to porcelain.
Composite veneers typically last 5–8 years and are more prone to staining than porcelain. They can be polished, repaired, or upgraded to porcelain at any time.
Veneers work best on teeth that are healthy, free from active decay or gum disease, with enough natural enamel present for bonding. If you have any of the following concerns, veneers may be the ideal solution:

Getting porcelain veneers at Magnolia Dentistry is typically completed in two to three appointments. Here is exactly what to expect at each stage:
Dr. Massaband examines your teeth, photographs your smile from multiple angles, and creates a digital simulation of your result using smile design software. You see what your veneers will look like and provide feedback before any tooth preparation begins. A written cost estimate and timeline is provided before you leave. No charge, no commitment.
Local anaesthetic is applied so you feel pressure but not pain. A very small amount of enamel (0.5–0.7mm — approximately the thickness of a contact lens) is gently removed from each tooth to create space for the veneer. Impressions are then taken and sent to a master ceramist who fabricates your custom porcelain veneers. Temporary veneers are fitted so you leave the appointment with a preview smile.
Your permanent porcelain veneers are carefully bonded to each tooth. Dr. Massaband checks the fit, colour match, and bite with you before final curing. Any minor adjustments are made on the day. Most patients describe this appointment as easy and leave immediately satisfied with the result.
Composite veneers are completed in a single 60–90 minute appointment without a laboratory stage. No anaesthetic is typically needed. Dr. Massaband applies, sculpts, and cures the resin directly on your tooth for an immediate result.
Veneers are as much an art form as a dental procedure. The quality of your result depends on the artistic eye, technical precision, and material choices of the dentist placing them. Dr. Liyan Massaband, DMD, MPH brings 15+ years of cosmetic dental experience and a philosophy of conservative, natural-looking results to every veneer case.
“My goal with every veneer case is a result that looks like it grew there, not like dental work. I take the time to understand what each patient wants their smile to look like and design backward from that.”

Porcelain veneers can last 10–20 years with proper care. Most veneer failures are caused by grinding, trauma, or inadequate home care. The following habits protect your investment:

With these habits, porcelain veneers routinely last 15+ years. If a veneer chips or debonds, it can usually be repaired or replaced without starting the full process over.
Porcelain veneers require the permanent removal of a small amount of tooth enamel (approximately 0.5–0.7mm) to create space. This means the decision to get veneers is irreversible; your teeth will always require some form of covering after preparation. However, the veneers themselves can be replaced or updated as needed throughout your life. With proper care, porcelain veneers last 10–20 years before replacement is needed.
The preparation appointment is performed under local anaesthetic so that you will feel pressure but not pain during enamel removal. Mild sensitivity for 1–3 days after the appointment is normal as your teeth adjust to the temporary veneers. Composite veneers typically require no anaesthetic at all. By the time your permanent veneers are fitted, most patients describe the experience as completely comfortable.
This depends entirely on your smile goals and which teeth are visible when you smile. Some patients need just 1–2 veneers to address a specific concern. Most smile transformations use 6–8 veneers to cover the upper front teeth visible in a natural smile. Dr. Massaband recommends the minimum number necessary to achieve your goal; she does not place veneers on teeth that do not need them.
At Magnolia Dentistry, porcelain veneers range from $900 to $2,000 per tooth depending on the material grade and complexity. Composite veneers range from $300 to $600 per tooth. A full smile makeover with 6–8 porcelain veneers typically ranges from $6,000 to $16,000. A complete written cost estimate is provided at your free consultation. CareCredit financing is available.
No, dental porcelain and composite resin do not respond to teeth whitening treatments. The shade of your veneers is selected before fabrication. If you want your smile to be as white as possible, we recommend whitening your natural teeth first, then matching your veneer shade to the whitened result.
Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and attend 6-month cleanings. Avoid biting hard objects (ice, pens, hard sweets) and wear a night guard if you grind your teeth. With these habits, porcelain veneers routinely last 15+ years.
