Burbank Dentist That Accepts Anthem Blue Cross Dental PPO

Magnolia Dentistry accepts Anthem Blue Cross dental PPO plans. Whether you have Anthem dental through your employer or an individual California plan, you can use your PPO benefits at our Burbank office for checkups, emergency care, restorative treatment and implant consultations. We check your specific plan before treatment and explain how your benefits are likely to apply.

Anthem Blue Cross offers both medical and dental coverage in California, and they're separate plans. Your dental benefits, network and annual maximum come from your dental plan, even if you also have Anthem medical insurance.

Anthem's dental PPO network in California

Anthem describes its dental PPO network as one of the largest in the country and notes that members pay less with in-network dentists, who have agreed to negotiated rates (Anthem Blue Cross). Many California plans use the Dental Complete network; Anthem's provider finder asks members to choose "Dental Complete (PPO)" when searching for dentists (Anthem provider finder guide). Some plans use other network names, so check the name printed on your card.

Out-of-network payments on Anthem dental PPO plans are calculated from an allowed amount set by the plan. Some Anthem California plans describe that amount as a percentile of area charges from an independent database, and out-of-network dentists can bill you the difference between their fee and that allowance. We check how your Anthem plan applies at our office before your visit.

Using your Anthem dental PPO for common treatment

Preventive visits. Exams, cleanings and routine X-rays are typically covered at the highest level, and many Anthem plans waive the deductible for them.

Emergency care. Call us first if you have tooth pain, swelling or a broken tooth. We fit emergencies in the same day whenever possible. The emergency exam and X-rays are usually covered under diagnostic benefits, with treatment at your plan's basic or major level. See our emergency dentist page.

Crowns, bridges and implants. These are usually major services and are limited by your annual maximum. If you're considering an implant or bridge, check whether your plan covers implants, whether there's a missing tooth limitation and whether an alternate benefit applies. Cosmetic care. Veneers and whitening are generally excluded as cosmetic. Some restorative work involved in improving your smile may be covered.

Carryover and annual maximums

Some Anthem dental plans include a carryover feature that lets members save part of their unused annual maximum for future years if they meet certain conditions. If your plan has it, you'll see it in your benefits summary.
